High-Quality Diamonds

Used in engagement rings for over 500 years, diamonds are a prized asset, making them a sought-after way to show the start of your unique bond.

It’s not easy to know which diamond ring to choose for one of life’s biggest moments. That’s why we rely on the 4Cs to ensure that all of our gemstones meet the highest standards.

Cut reflects a diamond’s ability to interact with, reflect and redistribute light.

Carat weight refers to the size and weight of a diamond, which can look bigger or smaller depending on the shape.

Colour is measured on a scale from D to Z, with D being virtually colourless and Z offering shards of pink, yellow, or brown.

Clarity is the assessment of the external and internal weaknesses or inclusions of the diamond.

We partner with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to ensure 100% public trust in our engagement rings with ethically sourced diamonds.

A Cut Above

Round brilliant diamonds are the most popular engagement ring, with their 58 facets and symmetry allowing them to offer a stunning light performance.

For a more cost-effective option, the elongated shape of an oval-cut makes the finger appear more slender and comes loaded with ideas of eternal love and fertility.

Asscher cuts, on the other hand, have an octagonal shape so that the clarity of the diamond is emphasised.

Engagement Ring Style

Once you’ve decided on the diamond for you, there is the question of style to consider.

The traditional solitaire ring draws the eye to the centre stone, while a trilogy three-stone piece represents the past, present and future. You might also seek to encrust your diamond with a halo of smaller stones that only add to the brilliance. Eternity bands are another elegant option to consider for their continuous line of diamonds.

Diamond Engagement Rings FAQs:

Here are some frequently asked questions about our diamond engagement ring collection:

How Much Should Someone Spend On A Diamond Engagement Ring?

In the UK, it is traditionally thought that three times your monthly salary should be spent on an engagement ring. However, this is no longer a concrete rule that people need to follow and may not be the appropriate amount for everyone. Price can be determined by diamond shape, metal bands and styles. At Alicia J, we offer a bespoke service, prioritising quality at the fraction of the cost of high-street jewellers.

Is A 1 Carat Diamond Big Enough?

A 1 Carat diamond is ample size for a diamond engagement ring. For a round brilliant cut, this is approximately 6.4mm in diameter. If you’d like your diamond to appear larger then you might want to choose a different cut, such as an oval or a marquise. You can also reduce the carat weight slightly without much visible change in size.

Who Is Supposed To Pick Out The Engagement Ring?

As a matter of tradition, the person proposing will pick out the engagement ring. Nowadays, though, anyone in a relationship can be involved in this decision and it can be a collaborative one too. If your partner has preferences on style and already wears jewellery daily, you may wish to consult them. On the other hand, the element of surprise is part of the romance and enchantment of an engagement. Talk to us about your relationship and we’ll help you choose the perfect engagement ring.
